Pixel Federation, the creators of the popular mobile game TrainStation 2, are teaming up with Pley to expand the game’s reach by launching it cross-platform on web browsers.
This partnership allows the railroad simulation, which has already achieved over 50 million downloads, to be enjoyed on larger screens without the need for downloads or installations.
Pley helps mobile game developers expand their games to new platforms with innovative web tools and solutions. With Pley’s technology, the transition from mobile to web becomes seamless, allowing developers to reach a wider audience while retaining control over their distribution channels.
For TrainStation 2, this means fans will soon be able to enjoy the game on a larger screen, without the need for downloads or installations, making it even more accessible.
Scheduled for a global web launch in September, TrainStation 2 will be available to play directly in browsers, using WebGL technology to ensure the same high-quality performance and immersive experience that players enjoy on their mobile devices.
Pley’s platform also features the Pley Connect tool, which allows players to link their mobile accounts to the web version, ensuring a smooth transition between platforms and preserving their progress.
This move to the web comes as a direct response to the feedback from TrainStation 2’s dedicated community. Robert Bartovic, Producer at Pixel Federation, highlighted the importance of listening to player feedback, noting that the desire for a PC version was a recurring request.
"We designed TrainStation 2 as a mobile railway tycoon game, a world of train simulation that fits in your pocket. Since its launch in 2019, it has become our flagship project, generating nearly 18.7 million EUR in sales in 2023 alone.
With 14 years of experience in transport tycoons, we have developed a deep understanding of the niche community of train enthusiasts. Our success is rooted in actively listening to players, and when they expressed a desire for a PC version, we sought a reliable partner to help us make it a reality. We're thrilled to have collaborated with Pley on bringing TrainStation 2 to PC. Their expertise was instrumental in adapting our game from mobile to a larger screen, ensuring that our community—including many of our enthusiastic, senior players—can enjoy the immersive experience they love on a more accessible platform."
Carles Tomaś Martí, CEO of Pley, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership, noting that TrainStation 2 is an ideal match for Pley’s audience, which ranges from casual to mid-core gamers. He praised Pixel Federation for their collaboration throughout the porting process, emphasizing the game’s potential to thrive on the web.
Gustav Pastucha, Business Development Manager at Pixel Federation, also highlighted the advantages of this move, particularly for their core audience of players aged 35 and up, who often spend significant time on their computers. He humorously noted that offering TrainStation 2 on the web could be a more productive use of their short breaks, compared to scrolling through YouTube or news sites.
TrainStation 2 will be showcased at GamesCom 2024 in Cologne, Germany, from August 21st to 23rd, where attendees can experience the web version firsthand at Pley’s booth in the B2B area. For those eager to start playing sooner, early access registration is available on the game’s official website.
This expansion to web browsers not only enhances TrainStation 2’s accessibility but also reinforces Pixel Federation's commitment to engaging with and growing its community of train enthusiasts, offering them a more versatile and immersive way to enjoy their favorite game.
